Car Insurance SEO writing - 4

I did some freelancing for a company called WebJuice, the Kayak.com of car insurance. My objectives were to stick to a topic, include all the top-rated SEO keywords on that topic and make it interesting.

Make Lemonade Out of that Lemon

Free car insurance quotes are available everywhere. You can compare and contrast different providers for weeks at a time. While you may be able to find some special discounts and lower rates due to your driving record, the fact remains – it’s going to be a lot harder to get cheap car insurance if your car is a piece of s—t. Or if it looks like a piece of s—t. Or looks great but drives, sounds or smells like a piece of s—t. You should upgrade that s—tty car of yours before you can think about getting a discount on your insurance. But of course, you’re going to say “If I could afford to upgrade my car, I probably wouldn’t need to cut corners on insurance, now would I?” Fair enough. But there are ways to upgrade your trusty old ride without sending it to the glue factory, and some of them are free.

Keep it clean
Your neighbor’s 14-year-old kid didn’t finger-scrawl “WASH ME” on your rear windshield just because he’s an unruly little punk (even though he is). He did it because that inch-thick film of God-knows-what that you left on your car was too inviting a target to pass up. It won’t hurt you to keep the chariot shined up, inside and out. Windex the headlights, wax up the wheels, vacuum the upholstery. A clean car is a more valuable car, and it gives the impression that it’s not a hazard. It also looks 10 years newer than it actually is.

Get dirty yourself
Your car’s oil and other fluids need to be changed or refilled on a regular basis. It goes without saying that doing so will keep it running like the day it was built for a long time. But you can save yourself a lot in labor costs by sliding underneath and doing all the work on your own. It’s not as difficult as you think, and if you let your insurance agent know of your newfound greasemonkey-dom, it may get a cheaper quote. Responsible driver + car repair/maintenance skills = less money for the insurance company to spend because your engine is less likely to explode = more reason to give you a lower rate.

Detox your AC
This may take a little more effort, but you should keep your air conditioning system sanitary. Regularly clean it out (there are many instructional web pages for it) and disinfect it. At the very least, a dirty AC can result in blocked air flow. A middling consequence can be funny – but not “ha ha” funny – smells emanating from your vents. At the very worst, it can shoot dangerous bacteria DIRECTLY INTO YOUR MOUTH. Wipe up the inside of your air conditioner and you’ll be surprised how much better it works and how much fresher the inside of your car feels.

Be full of hot air
Your tires, we mean. Keep them inflated to their proper levels at all times and don’t be too lazy to check them consistently. Underinflated tires are much more susceptible to blowouts, which are not only a gargantuan pain in the neck and potentially very dangerous, but a drag to insurance companies too. You think your providers will be quick to slash your renewal rate when they see how often you used their roadside assistance feature during your last contract? On top of all that, well-inflated tires can improve your gas mileage and last months, or even years longer than your old flaccid ones.
